Daylight Rhubarbry.

Me and me rhubarb.

With Mia’s help, I picked some rhubarb last weekend… first harvest from the plot in 2013! Looks like I will have a good, possibly great, rhubarb crop this year. With so much rhubarb on the way (fingers crossed), I expect to be experimenting a lot. First experiment, already completed, is the rhubarb drink pictured below, worth it for the colour alone. Next up is a Rhubarb Granita with a dash of beetroot infused vodka… sorry Mia, that’s for the grown-ups only!

  1. Brilliant title – still chuckling over it! Lovely photos. Your daughter (presumably) is beautiful and so is the rhubarb drink (in a different way, of course 🙂 ) How did you make it?

    • I can’t find the exact online recipe I used, so from memory… I simmered 4 chopped rhubarb sticks in a litre of water with sugar (half a cup, I think), 4 whole cloves, juice and grated rind of 1 lemon. Once the rhubarb softened, I let the mixture cool and stored it in the fridge overnight. Strained it in the morning and that was it!
